Real Scenes – New York City

RA did another episode of the Real Scenes documentary series and this time they shine a light on the again-vibrant New York scene. After the lull caused by Guilliani’s policies, nearly wiping out New York’s nightlife in a decade, with cabaret licenses in effect. I remember the Sound Factory closed a month before my first ever visit and feeling devastated to have missed an era. It’s good to see the city strugglin’ back. I have fond memories of the New York nightlife and it really hurt to know that most of the clubs I used to go to every week have gone and turned into pizza places. Anyway, a new generation of promoters have embraced the hussle to put out decent music in surprising venues, just like it’s supposed to be really! I’ve been playing lots of NYC related music the last few years, with people like the LIES crew, Jus Ed, Levon, Dj QU, Anthony Parasole and Joey Anderson all releasing really good music.

In case you were wondering where all the graphic design updates on the blog have gone; here’s where: http://pinterest.com/ltdaddiction/ It’s so much easier to pin something than to post it here and since time is as limited as the shirts on here I decided to move all those tasty corporate identity projects I come across to my pinterest account. I will limit this blog to music related posts (there should be a new mix from your truly soon) and of course all things Limited Addiction! In fact I’m cooking up a brand new collab as we speak, so keep your eyes peeled…

Limited Addiction December Mix

Here’s my latest effort. Starting off with some classic Cybotron vibes, going into Kink, Trevino’s remix for James Priestley & Marco Antonio is in there, mixed up with a Mr G cut off his 2012 album, an absolute killer by Innerspace Halflife, some dub techno deepness by Maurizio building up into a brand new Skudge and corker of a tune by Trevino again… 2 brand new instant classics Levon Vincent off his latest ep and signing off with Vaal’s Mask.

Jacques Greene Mix for The Fader

Dovercourt EP on 3024

More news from Martyn… Dropping soon on 3024! This is what the press release says:

V.A. – DOVERCOURT EP
A1) KEVIN MCPHEE – VERSION 5
A2) GINGY – SWIRLIE
B) NAUTILUSS – ZERO GRAVITY
DIGI) BRUCE TRAIL – BEATRICE

Over the last year I’ve traveled to Canada frequently for gigs and got to know the small but healthy electronic music scene there. Cities like Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto have brought forth many established artists over the past few years, such as Egyptrixx, Azari & III, Basic Soul Unit, Jacques Greene, Lunice and Sixtoo, but 2012 has seen a new breed of no-nonsense house and techno producers come up via labels like Turbo Recordings and Naked Lunch.

This “Dovercourt EP” features four very talented producers: Kevin McPhee, Nautiluss, Gingy and fresh face Bruce Trail. Their tracks are a dedication to their hometown of Toronto. Being removed from the house/techno epicentres of Berlin and London, these four are much less interested in what’s fashionable or trendy, and more in bringing us straight to the point, no frails jacking house music. I’ve been playing these four extensively in my DJ sets, and I hope you will too. So out to Toronto, this one’s for you!
Enjoy.
