Hat tip to Jan for pointing me to this: A Love Supreme by Thomas Campbell is a skatemovie for NYC’s number one skate shop Supreme shot way back in 1995. Lovin’ the gritty mid-nineties NYC vibes and the soundtrack courtesy of the mighty Coltrane, possibly, or arguably the best jazz record ever, in my humble opinion, of course. Anyway, sit back, relax and click play as I did:

DIY America

Monday, May 17th, 2010

I recently featured Os Gemeos, the twins from Brazil. The footage in that post is from the DIY America documentary from the Wieden + Kennedy website. DIY America explores the creativity of American subcultures such as skateboarding, graffiti, street art, punk and hip hop. You’ll notice some previously unused footage from the legendary Beautiful Losers documentary as this is a bit of a follow up from the same producers. The entire series is worth watching so I thought I’d share it with you. Here’s part 1 with interviews with Tony Hawk, Shepard Fairey, Thurston Moore, Harmony Korine, Andy Jenkins and many more:

Stop-motion skateboard animation

Found this incredible stop-motion skateboard animation by Tilles Singer. Just imagine the amount of work that’s gone into making that! I particularly like how fluent and life-like the movement is.
